Set Up Duo Mobile (MFA) for Windows Sign-In

Use this guide to set up the Duo Mobile app on your phone. Duo is the extra check that confirms it's really you when you sign in to Windows. This is called multi-factor authentication (MFA). Use this guide if you're new to Duo or you got a new phone.

Before You Start

• Your Windows account (the username and password you use to sign in to your work computer)
• Your phone (iPhone or Android)
• A text message from Duo on your phone. IT sends this when they set up Duo for you.

Steps

1. On your phone, open the text from Duo that starts with Welcome to Duo! Tap the first link, under "To install the Duo Mobile app."

   
   NOTE

   If Duo Mobile is already installed on this phone, skip to step 4.

2. Your phone opens the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). If it asks Open in "App Store"?, tap Open.

   

3. Tap Get (iPhone) or Install (Android) to install Duo Mobile. When it's installed, the button changes to Open.

   

4. Go back to the text from Duo and tap the second link, under "To activate the Duo Mobile app."

   

   Result: Duo Mobile opens and shows Registering your device.

5. If this is your first time using Duo Mobile, accept the prompts that appear. When it asks to send you notifications, tap Allow.

   NOTE

   Duo needs notifications to send you sign-in requests.

6. On the Name account screen, leave the account name as it is and tap Save.

   

How to Know It Worked

1. Duo Mobile shows your Braman Motors account with a passcode under it.

   
   NOTE

   You're all set. When you sign in, Duo sends a request to your phone (a Duo Push). Tap Approve to sign in. If you're asked for a passcode instead, open Duo Mobile and enter the 6-digit passcode shown under your Braman Motors account.

If Something Goes Wrong

The activation link doesn't open Duo Mobile

Duo Mobile isn't installed yet. Tap the first link in the text to install it (steps 1 to 3), then tap the activation link again.
